The agents at Keller Williams Wellington have just finished their Thanksgiving Food Drive, the newest reincarnation of an annual competition. Though the top spot this year was taken by the Drahan/Jennings team, the real winners are those in need: people in South Florida who might be looking at going hungry over the holidays. Last year, donations went to the Food Bank of Palm Beach County, which led to feeding over 115 different families in Palm Beach county.

This year the agents split off into two teams of 35. Each team was led by two individuals: one a member of the Agents Leaders Council and another from the Leadership team. At the end of the competition, all food collected over the course of the month was delivered to the Feed the Hungry Pantry of South Florida. Incredibly, Feed the Hungry Pantry has helped almost 100,000,000 families since the creation of the pantry.

It all started a few years ago when agents at Keller Williams Wellington saw an amazing opportunity to both have fun while they worked and help the community that they are so fundamentally tied to, and that they care so much about/rely heavily on. When asked about why they do it, one of the agent's comments from the 2019 competition really sticks out.

“We decided to do the food drive the month of October, so that we can stock our local food banks and pantries in time for the holiday season. And, after Hurricane Dorian, we realized that many Bahamians were relocating here to Palm Beach County, and they would be in need, too. What could we do to help them, and how could we reach them?”

That's what Nancy Jennings, one of the two leaders of the winning team this year, had to say after last year's competition. Her team brought in 2100 different food items, from mac and cheese boxes, soup, snacks, fruit, juice and oatmeals, landing them in first place. The final count of items collected through the drive was 7500, all of which were packed up and donated to the Feed the Hungry Panty of South Florida to help those in need.
